Pat joined Liz’s team on the 1st of May 1988 when they met up in The Glencarn Hotel at the Sunday night disco. Both from Castleblayney, they celebrated their wedding there three years later, to the day. Always encouraging and supportive, Pat is Liz’s soulmate in life and business. Pat is a psychiatric nurse and on his days off, he helps Liz in the workshop, that is when he is not gallivanting on his Adventure motorbike! Liz is happy to gallivant with him from time to time.Â
When Lorna was a TY student, she came to Swallow Studios for work experience and studied graphic design in college. Lorna joined our team in 2022 and she hand-weaves our Crios belts. She has written, illustrated and published numerous children’s books and is interested in the power and use of crystals for healthand wellbeing.Â
With a background in administration and retail, Laura joined our team in 2023. Laura has worked with Liz to bring LEAN thinking into the business to streamline the many and varied daily processes in a living artisan working studio. Laura has taken over much of the administration of the studios, thus freeing up Liz’s time to do what she does best.Â
A long-time family friend who lives close by, Jenny is always willing to offer a helping hand when our tours come in. She is brilliant too at rounding up our sheep and sending them to where they need to be.Â
Emma’s full-time job is being mammy to her four boys. She began as a cottage industry sheep weaver when her second boy was a baby on her hip. Emma is a natural hand-weaver and a wonderful model. So, as well as being the face of Liz Christy scarves, she helps us out in the studios when she can.Â
Liz met Veronica when they travelled daily on the bus to work in Warner’s underwear factory in Keady, Co. Armagh. There they were both stitchers making bras in the 1990’s. Veronica has a wicked sense of humour and always livens up a tour when she comes to lend a hand on the day. She is a mighty sheep rustler, and our retail stockists will recognise her from the LizzyC Sheep stand at Showcase Ireland every January.Â
Liz’s sister Sheila, who lives in the West of Ireland, was the first sheep weaver whom Liz trained to make LizzyC Sheep. In true cottage industry style, they post parcels of sheep back and forth across the country. From time to time, Sheila visits and spends a few weeks in the middle of the craic in Swallow Studios.Â
