The Stable of Ireland Collaboration with Liz Christy is integral to Liz’s handweaving business. Stable of Ireland was founded by Sonia Reynolds and Francie Duff in 2015. Their vision was to create a brand that celebrates Irish craftsmanship and brings it to a global audience. They have collaborated with designers and artists to create unique collections that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. The brand offers a range of products, including scarves, crios belts, throws and other accessories. Each item is meticulously crafted using traditional methods, ensuring the highest quality and a unique touch. They emphasise traditional handweaving techniques, which have been passed down through generations of Irish weavers.
In 2018, Francie and Sonia visited Liz Christy’s Studios in the heart of County Monaghan and have collaborated since. They selected some Crios Belt designs, and Liz has continued to add to these colourways for their beautiful shop in Westbury Mall, Dublin, which has done so much to bring the remarkable story of the Crios back into consciousness.
On that first visit, they also chose a hand-woven lace wrap for their store. Green cashwool and linen, woven with the delicate cream and coral warp, this design has become a key piece for Stable of Ireland, along with a selection of other colourways of the design. Most recently, a fabulously vibrant orange and a navy have been added to the mix. Together, they have worked with the Crios design and built a collection of luxury scarves, wraps, and throws inspired by the most traditional Irish heritage products, which Stable of Ireland has brought to an international audience. Their breathtaking photography and videos show Sonia and Francie’s passion for Irish Textiles. Incidentally, these two lovely women met on the Cleo photoshoot when they modelled the suits made from my Swedish lace tweed fabric.
