Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our tours and services.

  • How often do tours take place?

As our studio is a working environment where we produce our goods to order, we have one scheduled tour per week on Thursdays at 11 am.

  • Do I need to book tickets in advance to visit?

Yes, to avoid disappointment for the Thursday Tour, we recommend that you book in advance. This also helps us to organise the details of your tour when we know the numbers in advance. We aim to show you a real living hand-weaving workshop with actual work being produced, not just a demonstration. It’s very easy to book your tour online on our Booking page.

  • How long is the tour?

The tour will last between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on numbers and how chatty the group is on the day. We are happy to take the time to chat with our visitors and answer all your questions in as best we can within the allocated timeframe. Allow some extra time to browse the gift shop.

  • Is this a guided tour?

Yes, this is an organised guided tour with Liz, where you will see all the processes of creating her lovely hand-weaves and you gain insights into her life as a textile designer and entrepreneur, with the odd story thrown in. Each tour has its unique flavour as Liz speaks from the heart rather than from a script.

  • Are tours available to walk-ins who haven’t booked in advance?

Yes, everyone is welcome to see our workshop floor, however, you may or may not meet Liz as she is a very busy lady with all she looks after in the day-to-day running of her studios. A member of the team will happily show you around, but there is no guarantee of seeing all the various aspects of making our work. For example, Liz does not dye wool every day, warps are not prepared every day, and you may arrive when the looms are ‘between warps’ so you may not see the actual weaving. Hence the fully-guided tour is scheduled once a week on Thursdays at 11 am to give the best experience to our visitors.

  • Is the tour available in various languages?

Unfortunately, no not at present. The tour is given in English.

  • Do you sell Gift Vouchers?

Yes, Gift Vouchers are available to buy in the gift shop or online. (link to Shop) Gift Vouchers may be used to purchase goods or tours.
