Handcrafted at Swallow Studios, this particular crios earned its name after being featured as the striking cloak edging Mrs. McCormack wore in the acclaimed Irish film The Banshees of Inisherin. The production team sourced the piece from An Creard Siop</strong>a on Inis Oírr, a testament to its authenticity and craftsmanship.

Pronounced “Kris” (plural: Crioseanna), the Crios has deep roots in Irish heritage. Traditionally made with six colourful strands of wool and often finished with a white border, these belts were worn by the men of the Aran Islands</strong>, wrapped around their tweed trousers for utility and identity.

Liz weaves the Christy Crios on a cherished floor loom she rescued during a property clearance in County Sligo. With guidance from Kitty Joyce of Cleo Ltd., Liz honed her skills and passion, helping keep this rare and beautiful tradition alive.
