This Irish Belt, the Dragon Crios, was specially created to welcome the vibrant “Dragons and Castles” tour to Swallow Studios on Easter Sunday 2025. This joyful group of fibre enthusiasts, travelling with Irish Knitting Tours, came in search of colour, texture, and textile magic—and they brought all of that and more.

Led by the dynamic Alexandra Davidoff,  the group’s energy was infectious, and the colours of this crios reflect that spirit: bold, fiery, and full of life. Handwoven from Donegal tweed wool, it’s a true celebration of creativity, community, and the enduring beauty of traditional Irish craft.

Crios (pronounced “Kris”, plural Crioseanna) belts were once worn by the men of the Aran Islands, tied at the waist as both practical garment and cultural symbol. Today, they’re still woven with purpose—but also with personality.

The Dragon Crios is for anyone who embraces bold colour, fierce joy, and the shared love of fibre that connects us across the world.
