This Irish Belt – Dragon Crios was created to celebrate the “Dragons and Castles” tour’s visit to Swallow Studios on Easter Sunday 2025. This vibrant group of fibre enthusiasts, travelling with Irish Knitting Tours, arrived in search of colour, texture, and textile magic — and brought all of that in abundance.
Led by the dynamic Alexandra Davidoff, their energy filled the studio. The colours of this crios capture that same spirit — bold, fiery, and full of life.
Handwoven from Donegal tweed wool, the Dragon Crios celebrates creativity, community, and the enduring beauty of traditional Irish craft.
The men of the Aran Islands once wore Crios belts (pronounced “Kris,” plural Crioseanna). Tied at the waist, they served as both a practical garment and a cultural emblem. Today, they’re still woven with purpose — but also with individuality and joy.
The Dragon Crios is for those who embrace vibrant colour, fierce joy, and the shared love of fibre that connects makers and wearers across the world.
